Born on 31 January 1975 in Karbi Anglong village of Assam,
Shrimati Bikrama Khakhlari acquired mastery in Bodo dance
under the tutelage of her father Shri Khirod Khakhlari.
Starting out young in the field of dance, Shrimati Bikrama Khakhlari has choreographed many dance programmes, and has performed extensively in major national and international festivals in the country. She has also performed for Doordarshan, Guwahati and Agartala. She has trained a number of students of the region and established a group of young artists which has been registered by Song and Drama Division, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India. The group has spread awareness among the masses on social and health issues through their art. She has to her credit a large number of audio visual productions of folk and tribal dances of Assam.
Shrimati Bikrama Khakhlari is awarded the Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar of Sangeet Natak Akademi for the year 2012 for her notable talent as an artist of Bodo dance of Assam.
