This work on the folk music of Himachal Pradesh puts together a representative selection of song texts grouped subjectwise — seasonal songs, festive songs, farmers’ songs, etc. — each provided with explanatory notes. Further, songs from various districts of Himachal Pradesh are gathered here together with notations. The book carries prefatory remark on the varieties and styles of Himachali folk songs and examines in conclusion the talas and percussion instruments used. There is a brief section on folk dance as well.
